How to Use

1. Place silicone sheet in your 7x14 tray (mesh or solid bottom depending on your watering method)
2. Wet the sheet thoroughly before seeding
3. Spread seeds evenly across the surface
4. Follow standard germination (blackout, weight, etc.)
5. Water as needed during growth (bottom-watering or top-watering both work)
6. Harvest microgreens when ready
7. Clean and sanitize between grows

Seed Compatibility

Works Great With (Medium to Large Seeds):

• Sunflower
• Pea (best grown without medium—directly on mesh only)
• Radish
• Broccoli
• Arugula
• Kale
• Cabbage
• Kohlrabi
• Most Brassica family seeds

The 1.2mm hole size provides excellent support for these varieties while allowing roots to penetrate and anchor properly.

Does NOT Work Well With:

• Swiss Chard
• Beets
• Cilantro

These varieties perform better on soil or coco coir. Their seed characteristics and root development don't work well with the silicone mesh structure.

Note on Peas: While peas can grow on silicone, they perform best when grown directly on mesh trays without any medium. The large pea roots don't need the extra support.

Cleaning & Care

After Each Harvest:

1. Remove roots: Use a Microgreen Medium Scraper/Cleaning Tool to scrape off roots and leftover seed hulls. This protects the silicone from tears during cleaning.

2. Wash: Hand-wash with warm water and free-and-clear soap (scent-free, gentle formula). While dishwasher safe, hand-washing extends lifespan.

3. Sanitize (every 3-5 grows or when switching varieties): Submerge in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. This kills any lingering bacteria, mold spores, or pathogens.

4. Air dry: Hang or lay flat to dry completely before storage.

Total cleanup time: About 5 minutes per sheet.

Storage: Store dry, out of direct sunlight.

Avoid: Abrasive scrubbers that may damage the surface or tear the material.

Longevity & Replacement

Expected lifespan: With proper care, each sheet can last for months of regular use.

When to replace:

• Tears or deep cuts develop
• Excessive wear compromises structural integrity
• Material becomes brittle or significantly degraded

Important Product Information

Fiberglass core: The silicone contains a fiberglass core for structural support. This is what gives the material strength and prevents it from stretching out of shape. Replace the medium if tears or cuts could expose this core.

Staining is normal: Silicone may develop stains with certain seed varieties (particularly beets, mustards, and other pigmented crops). This is cosmetic only and doesn't affect performance or food safety.
