10x10 Sampler Pack: Reusable Grow Mediums, Silicone & Steel

Not sure which reusable grow medium is right for your setup? Our 10x10 Sampler Pack lets you test both silicone and stainless steel side-by-side before committing to larger quantities—all at a better value than buying separately.

Unlike traditional grow mats made from coco coir, hemp, or paper that are used once and thrown away, both our silicone and stainless steel reusable grow mediums are made for hydroponic use and built to last. They don't contain any organic matter, so they won't decompose or break down. Instead, they provide a stable, non-soil surface that supports microgreen root growth while allowing water and nutrients to flow through freely. With proper care, each sheet can be cleaned, sanitized, and reused for months, saving you money and reducing waste.

What's Included

  • 2 Silicone Reusable Grow Medium sheets (9.25" x 9.25")
  • 2 Stainless Steel Reusable Grow Medium sheets (9.25" x 9.25")
  • All sheets pre-cut to fit standard 10x10 trays

Why the Sampler Pack Makes Sense

Better value: For $14.97, you get four sheets (two of each material) instead of paying $10.97 for just two sheets of one type. That's a significant savings while giving you the flexibility to compare both materials in your own growing environment.

Test before you scale: Every grow setup is different. This pack lets you dial in your technique with both materials before investing in larger 10-packs, so you can grow with confidence knowing which medium works best for your specific varieties, watering schedule, and workflow.

Silicone Reusable Grow Medium

Key Features:

  • Dimensions: 9.25" x 9.25" – fits standard 10x10 trays
  • Hole Size: 1.2mm great for moisture retention
  • Material: Food-Grade Platinum-cured Silicone with fiberglass core
  • Lifespan: Months with proper care
  • Silicone is rated for 20 to 30+ grow cycles per sheet with proper care

Why Silicone? Flexible, easy to handle, and simple to clean. The softer material makes root removal faster and is gentler on your hands during cleanup. Works well with Sunflower, Radish, Broccoli, Arugula, Basil, Cabbage, Kohlrabi, and most Brassica family microgreens.

Care: Dishwasher-safe. Use our Microgreen Medium Scraper for root removal, wash with free-and-clear dish soap, and sanitize with boiling water between grows. Read our complete silicone care guide.

Stainless Steel Reusable Grow Medium

Key Features:

  • Dimensions: 9.25" x 9.25" – fits standard 10x10 trays
  • Hole Size: 1mm great for root development
  • Material: 316-Grade Stainless Steel Mesh
  • Lifespan: Months with proper care

Why Stainless Steel? Rigid, extremely durable, and highly resistant to cuts or tears. The firmer structure provides excellent support for aggressive root systems. Works well with Sunflower, Pea, Radish, Broccoli, Arugula, Basil, Cabbage, Kohlrabi, and most Brassica family microgreens.

Care: Dishwasher-safe. Use our Microgreen Medium Scraper for root removal. Can handle aggressive cleaning methods including boiling water. Caution: Edges are sharp—handle with care. Read our complete stainless steel care guide.

Seed Compatibility

Works Well With: Sunflower, Pea, Radish, Broccoli, Kale, Cabbage, Arugula, Basil, Mustard Greens, Kohlrabi, and most Brassica varieties

More Challenging: Amaranth can grow successfully at 75°F with proper heat mat  management. Very fine seeds may require adjustments depending on your setup.

Not Recommended: Swiss Chard, Beets, and Cilantro (these perform better in soil or coco coir)

Best Without a Medium: Pea varieties with aggressive root systems often perform best directly on mesh trays without a grow medium.
